Flourishing film location thanks to the FISAplus incentive model
The year 2023 turned out to be an outstanding year for FILM in AUSTRIA, further reinforcing the positive trend which was perceptible in the previous year. This can mainly be attributed to the introduction of new funding possibilities for international film projects.
On balance, FILM in AUSTRIA achieved record results with 29 international film projects involving investments of close to € 190 million.
Productions such as “The Regime" with Kate Winslet and “Beasts like us,” the first streaming series for Amazon filmed exclusively in Austria, made major contributions to this success.
One key factor is the new funding programme FISAplus, which has systematically lured international productions to Austria and played a substantial role in increasing filming in Austria. FISAplus has already positioned itself as a tried and tested funding programme of the Federal Ministry for Labour and Economy. It supports service productions for international films and series as well as Austrian TV and streaming productions. In this way, the competitiveness of Austria as a film location is strengthened.
