"Downhill" celebrated its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival on January 26th, 2020!
The shooting for the remake of the Swedisch film success "Force Majeure" (directed by Ruben Östlund) entitled "Downhill" - directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (Academy Award-winning screenplay for "The Descendents" with George Clooney) - took place in Tirol and Vienna in early 2019.
In the main roles of the couple Peter and Billie are the US stars Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, whose outwardly perfect family life gets out of balance when they narrowly escape a (controlled) avalanche during a holiday with their children in the Austrian Alps. An instincitve reaction from Peter questions his role as father and husbnd, causing emotional collapse and comedic power struggles.

Have a look at the trailer of here:
Shooting locations were the Tyrolean communities of Fiss, Ischgl and Kaunertal, in addition two weeks of filming in hall 1 of the former Rosenhügel studios of Wien Film. Around 160 crew members were involved in the project, including numerous Austrian filmmakers and local service providers. In addition to a domestic value added of around 7 million euros, nearly 10.000 overnight stays were expected in the regions.
Location Austria is pleased to have successfully brought the project to Austria after a one-and-a-half-year trial with Fox Searchlight and a rivalry with countries such as France, Italy, Norway or Canada.
"Downhill" is financially supported by FISA – Film Industry Support Austria and Cine Tirol.
